WONDERLAND: Children's Museum
STUDIO: Prof. Howard Davies / 2012
in collaboration with Dorothy Lee
The entire ground floor of our building is an open, free, playful space that we envisioned as bright and colourful. The exhibition rooms float within this space and are placed on top of colourful columns, giving the impression of tree houses inside the museum. The visitor enters the museum through a lift in the landscape. Each exhibition room offers a different experience of light and circulation. Hints of the ‘Great Room’ of the museum are revealed along the journey through a lens of frosted glass or angled points of view. The final revelation of the Great Room offers the visitors a place to run, climb, play or eat.
