ROUND DANCE
PLAYERS THEATRE, McGill University
Feb. 2015
A play about desire and vulnerability in sexual relationships. The unrefined set forged a platform for the raw social interractions fashioned between the characters. As the scenes changed, the customized modular set transformed into a bed, a wall, a table, a vanity or a bench. Recycled pallets and repurposed wood created a deconstructed and neutral backdrop, contrasting with the changing power dynamics performed on scene. Imagined indoor and outdoor rooms came into focus through alternating hanging fixtures. As a final touch, the theatre’s velvet curtains were replaced with hanging bed sheets which further carried the industrial and sensual aesthetic of the play.
